Currently, 19 convicts with severe symptoms of coronavirus are being treated in the infectious diseases department of the hospital with a limit of 30 beds, according to the European-Asian News, citing the head of the colony, Timofey Nemkov. Another 45 patients are in the neurological department of OB No. 2, repurposed for the treatment of COVID-19. Convicts with other diseases were temporarily assigned to medical institutions in Ivdel and Nizhny Tagil.

According to the head of the colony, there are no patients with a severe course, none of the four available ventilators has yet been used. One convict died with a confirmed diagnosis. The exact cause of death has not yet been established, it is only known that the deceased had several chronic diseases. All patients receive antibiotics and hydroxychloroquine.

Also in the colony, a whole detachment was allocated for observation of convicts who had contact with the sick and are now waiting for the test results - only 13 people.

At the end of June, the deputy director of the Federal Penitentiary Service, Alexander Khabarov, reported 766 prisoners and 2,132 employees of Russian colonies with confirmed COVID-19. According to Khabarov, most cases of the disease were detected in the colonies in the Central and Ural federal districts.

In America, where anti-morbidity records are updated almost daily, the authorities of several American states have begun releasing convicts for minor crimes out of fear of the spread of coronavirus in overcrowded prisons. On July 11, it became known that it is planned to release about 10 thousand prisoners in California.
