Average daily increase in new cases of COVID-19 in Russia is 7.9% - Ministry of Health

“The daily growth in Russia as a whole is 7.9%. If we talk about patients with acute respiratory infections and pneumonia symptoms, then this indicator is stable and amounts to 51% of mild cases, 38% of moderate and 11% of severe cases. Thus, the overall increase did not affect the average number of patients with severe symptoms, although they are more significant for the country's health, the press service of the Ministry of Health quotes Malinnikova.

The expert added that today the number of tests conducted to detect coronavirus has increased significantly, not only in Moscow and St. Petersburg, but in other regions of Russia. Most of the cases identified are mild to moderate.

Malinnikova also called on Russians to social responsibility, which will help stop the spread of the infection.

“It is important to understand: if we tolerate a little longer, we will be able to interrupt the active circulation of the virus in our country, SARS-CoV-2 will lose its virulence, that is, toxicity - its infectiousness will fall. Only then is it possible to reduce the incidence,”emphasized the chief infectious disease specialist of the Ministry of Health.
