In the report, experts from the Central Research Institute for Organization and Informatization of Healthcare of the Ministry of Health pointed out that the situation with the spread of coronavirus in Russia compares favorably with other countries affected by the pandemic. So, in Russia, the incidence is 8 times less than in Spain, and the mortality rate is almost 92 times less, and is comparable to that of China.
"The low incidence and low mortality rates indicate that containment measures are working to spread the infection (for example, China, Russia), the timely provision of specialized medical care in inpatient conditions," the experts of the Ministry of Health said, noting that the mortality rate of coronavirus in Russia today is 0.91%. For comparison: in Germany it is 3.79%, in China - 5.51%.
The report also highlighted the main reasons for the relatively low incidence of coronavirus COVID-19 in the residents of Russia - the low density and mobility of the population, which is dispersed over the vast territory of the state, low tourism activity, including domestic. The report also emphasizes the effectiveness of measures by the Russian authorities to restrict the access of coronavirus to our country.
Separately, experts highlight the role of a high level of BCG vaccination, which is estimated by some researchers as a factor that increases immunity against coronavirus.
"Such a connection has not been scientifically confirmed at present," the Ministry of Health said.
