At the same time, the vaccination of newborns in maternity hospitals is preserved, said the representative of the Ministry of Health.
The decision to temporarily abandon routine vaccination was also supported by Rospotrebnadzor. A month ago, the head of the department, Anna Popova, sent a letter to the regions, in which she mentioned that immunization in the outbreaks of the epidemic should be continued. The recommendations of Rospotrebnadzor concern primarily the adult population, since the largest number of COVID-19 cases is registered among adults.
Earlier, the Regional Office for Europe of the World Health Organization (WHO) published the Guidelines for Routine Immunization During the COVID-19 Pandemic. The document contains recommendations to health services on what adjustments can be made to routine immunization of the population against infections that are now controlled by vaccination. At the same time, decisions of government agencies should be based on a detailed assessment of the spread of infections in different regions, and also take into account measures to minimize the consequences of disruptions in the work of immunization services.
