The new decree was published on the website of the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin. The exceptions are situations when emergency medical care is required, a compulsory trip to work, walking animals, going to a store or pharmacy near the house.
Citizens are instructed to maintain a distance of at least 1.5 meters from each other on the streets, in shops, in transport and in other public places. An exception is taxi rides. "In the coming days - after the technical and organizational measures - it will be possible to go out with a special pass issued in the manner prescribed by the Moscow government," according to Sobyanin's website.
The mayor of Moscow said that within a week a "smart" system of monitoring compliance with self-isolation and the established rules for the movement of citizens will work in the capital.
“Gradually, but steadily, we will tighten the control necessary in this situation,” the mayor promised.
The number of cases of coronavirus in Moscow has reached 1,014.
