The entire abdominal cavity of the patient was occupied by multiple tumor nodes of various sizes, which squeezed and pushed aside vital organs. During a radical operation, surgeons removed a giant non-organ tumor and a tumor thrombus from the inferior vena cava. At the same time, all neighboring organs were preserved. And, according to doctors, now the patient will be able to return to a full life.

The operation took place in the secondary abdominal department of the Moscow Oncological Institute. P.A. Herzen - a branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "National Medical Research Center of Radiology". It was carried out by a team of leading oncological surgeons under the leadership of the Deputy Director General for Surgery of the Center, Dr. med. Andrey Ryabov.

As the press service of the FSBI NMITs Radiology said, a patient from the Samara region independently sought advice from the Center's polyclinic, after they could not establish a diagnosis at the place of residence. After carrying out the necessary diagnostic procedures, doctors realized that they were dealing with liposarcoma G 2. This disease belongs to a rare type of malignant neoplasm, which is characterized by rapid growth and a high degree of aggressiveness.

According to doctors, the entire abdominal cavity of the patient was occupied by multiple tumor nodes of various sizes, which threatened the neighboring organ. During the operation, which lasted about three hours, the patient was removed from the giant tumor, preserving all adjacent adjacent organs. In addition, a tumor thrombus was removed from the patient's inferior vena cava. A successful operation will allow the patient to return to a fulfilling life. Already on the ninth day after the operation, he was discharged home.

“In our practice, treatment of patients with giant tumors of retroperitoneal localization is not uncommon. NMRC Radiology is the expert institution in this field. Such operations require not only skill and well-coordinated interaction of surgeons, anesthesiologists and resuscitators, but also modern material and technical equipment ", - quotes the press service of the director general of the National Medical Research Center of Radiology Andrey Kaprin.
