From September 16, the action takes place in Russia, European countries, Brazil and South Korea. According to official figures, the number of victims of this insidious disease is growing. And the main weapon against him is the detection of the disease in the early stages. On the days of the campaign, anyone can undergo a free examination in an outpatient office at the University Clinical Hospital No. 1 of Sechenov University.

The social campaign has been running since 2013, when 18 cities of Russia joined the action, and in 2018 the number of cities participating in the action increased to 99. In one week of the action, more than 27 thousand people were examined throughout Russia.

The head and neck cancer diagnostics room will work until it accepts everyone who has registered for an appointment. Reception of patients is carried out daily on weekdays from 9 to 14 o'clock in the UKB No. 1 at the address: st. B. Pirogovskaya, 6, bldg. 1.

As told in the Clinic of Cluster Oncology of Sechenov University, neoplasms of the upper respiratory tract account for 3-4% of tumors of all localizations. The first place among malignant diseases of the head and neck is taken by cancer of the larynx, accounting for 2.6% in the general structure of the prevalence of malignant neoplasms in humans. The second place is occupied by tumors of the pharynx, nose and paranasal sinuses. Oncology of the ear and temporal bone is the most rare pathology.

Almost all chronic inflammatory processes and some benign formations of the larynx are considered precancerous diseases of the larynx. Among the diseases of the JIOP organs, chronic laryngitis is 8.4%, benign neoplasms of the larynx are found in 55-70% of cases among all productive processes of the upper respiratory tract, but in the absence of timely treatment, they can become malignant in 3-8%.

The main symptom of laryngeal cancer and precancerous laryngeal disease is hoarseness. Despite this, many doctors and patients do not pay enough attention to this symptom. In addition, examination of the larynx often presents certain difficulties: an increased pharyngeal reflex in a patient, anatomical features of the structure of the larynx often do not allow the doctor to examine the larynx properly.

For the correct diagnosis of diseases of the larynx, it is necessary to have modern equipment, as well as experience in examining this category of patients. The staff of the Clinical Clinical Hospital No. 1 has all the capabilities to diagnose, monitor and treat precancerous diseases of the larynx, conduct differential diagnostics of benign and malignant processes in the larynx, as well as the necessary clinical experience.

As a result of the action, oncologists of Sechenov University will present an analysis of data on the current situation and development trends, as well as measures to prevent and combat this disease in Russia.“We support such continental actions, first of all, because this is one of the few international channels of the so-called“soft power”, and Russia's participation in this movement is very important. Unfortunately, the incidence of head and neck cancers is on the rise. In this regard, an important factor is the wide public awareness not only within the framework of this action, but also in general. Early detection of cancer is a priority, and early diagnosis is the main weapon against cancer. The earlier the disease is detected, the more chances of success are,”said Igor Reshetov, Director of the Sechenov University Cluster Oncology Clinic, Chairman of the Board of the Federation of Specialists in Head and Neck Diseases of Russia, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
