Leading crowdfunding platforms will stop anti-vaccine fundraising

Crowdfunding site Indiegogo is going to ban fundraising campaigns related to anti-vaccination and medical concepts with no scientific evidence.

Crowdfunding site Indiegogo is going to ban fundraising campaigns related to anti-vaccination and medical concepts with no scientific evidence, BuzzFeed News reported.

A company spokesman said the ban has not yet entered into force, but did not say exactly when it will happen.

The platform did this when, amid soaring measles incidence, American anti-vaccines raised $ 86,543 for a documentary that falsely claims vaccines cause autism.

Another popular crowdfunding platform, GoFundMe, also recently announced that it will ban anti-vaccination fundraising on its website. The company said that such activity violates the terms of use of the service.

Previously, Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest also announced that posts and pages related to skepticism about vaccinations will be removed from the search and no longer promoted.

The World Health Organization reported that the incidence of measles in the first quarter of 2019 was four times higher than in the same period in 2018.
