The world's most popular subject ranking of universities QS World University Rankings by Subject 2019 was published on February 27 by the global analytical agency QS Quacquarelli Symonds. Topped the QS ranking at Harvard University (USA). All in all, there are six American universities in the top ten, three English and one Swedish. The QS ranking is assessed on the following indicators: academic reputation and reputation among employers (based on global surveys of scientists and employers conducted by QS), citations and publication activity based on information from the Scopus database. The 2019 edition of the QS World University Rankings is the largest study based on:
the opinion of over 83,000 educators who have contributed to over 1.25 million nominations in the QS Academic Survey;
- the opinion of over 42 thousand employers who have contributed to over 199 thousand nominations in the QS Employer Survey;
- research data from the Elsevier Scopus database: 150 million citations from 22 million scientific papers.
This data is used to evaluate more than 1,200 universities in 78 countries, providing students, university leaders, government agencies, educators and employers with unique insights into institution performance. The QS Ranking is one of the leading international rankings along with the Times Higher Education (THE) and the Academic Ranking of World Universities (Shanghai Ranking). The QS rating was first published in 2004 under the combined brand THE-QS, and since 2010 under its own brand.
