Less than 1% of Russians lead a healthy lifestyle

At the same time, more than half of the participants in the survey conducted by the ONF using the People's Control mobile application consider themselves to be adherents of a healthy lifestyle. According to the respondents, lack of time and money prevents them from leading an active lifestyle. Lower prices for healthy food and discounts on air and train tickets for holidays in Russia could help people become healthier.

At the same time, more than half of the participants in the survey conducted by the All-Russian Popular Front (ONF) using the People's Control mobile application consider themselves to be adherents of a healthy lifestyle. According to the respondents, lack of time and money, as well as lack of willpower, hinders them from leading an active lifestyle. Lower prices for healthy food and discounts on air and train tickets for holidays in Russia could help people become healthier.

In total, about 4.6 thousand people took part in the study, which was conducted in November-December 2018, the press service of the ONF said. As it turned out, 65% of the respondents consider themselves to be adherents of a healthy lifestyle: 19% of them answered that they firmly adhere to a healthy lifestyle, another 46% try to lead it. However, in fact, very few lead a fully healthy lifestyle. So, of those who are firmly convinced that they lead a healthy lifestyle, only half are systematically involved in sports. Only 35 people from this group strictly adhere to a healthy diet, 31 of them do not smoke.

As a result, it turned out that only about 0.4% of respondents (18 people) meet all the criteria for a healthy lifestyle (healthy diet, systematic physical activity, complete rejection of tobacco and alcohol). At the same time, the topic itself worries an overwhelming number of Russians: only 6% of respondents admitted that they do not think about healthy lifestyle at all.

Many study participants agreed that adherence to healthy lifestyle needs to be increased. And not only with the help of large-scale information companies. The survey participants named discounts on air and train tickets for holidays in Russia and lower prices for healthy food as good incentives for leading a healthy lifestyle.

The Popular Front poll confirmed the data of the Ministry of Sports that 36% of citizens are systematically engaged in physical culture and sports. Among the users of the People's Control mobile application, this figure was 38%. In accordance with the latest presidential decrees in May, life expectancy is expected to rise to 78 years by 2024, and to 80 years by 2030. According to experts, for this, first of all, it is necessary to increase the number of citizens leading a healthy lifestyle, including to bring to 55% the share of people who systematically go in for physical culture and sports.
