The Public Chamber asked Roszdravnadzor to conduct an unscheduled inspection of medical posts at all Russian airports. This is due to the death of 24-year-old Artem Chechikov from a heart attack at the Sheremetyevo airport. Eyewitnesses reported that the medical equipment at the airport was in poor condition, and the ambulance had to wait for a very long time.

Now experts are demanding to find out how well equipped medical posts at airports are, Izvestia writes. According to the Public Chamber, there was not even a defibrillator on board the plane, and the paramedics at the airport did not have a resuscitation device with them. The experts also propose to expand the list of necessary equipment, adding, for example, stretchers of various configurations.

Members of the Public Chamber also demanded to find out why the Sheremetyevo international airport is served by an ambulance station in Moscow, if it is located on the territory of the Moscow region. Because of this, Artem Chechikov had to wait 40 minutes for medical assistance.

Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Affairs Leonid Pechatnikov said that the medical team was traveling from the nearest Moscow ambulance station in Yuzhny Tushino, which is 22 kilometers away. The distance to the station near Moscow is much shorter. Medics arrived at the airport 25 minutes after the call.

“But it was necessary to solve some formalities already in the airport terminal so that the car was released onto the airfield, and it also took time. Unfortunately, it took 40 minutes from the ambulance call signal to the moment when the doctors approached Artem Chechikov. Nevertheless, the Moscow ambulance did everything it could, and there is nothing to reproach it with,”the deputy mayor said.
