American sues [for amputation of penis during circumcision]

An Alabama resident is suing a local urology center and two surgeons there, accusing them of having his penis amputated during a circumcision procedure. According to the statement of claim, in June the man went to a circumcision operation under general anesthesia. When the plaintiff woke up after the procedure, it turned out that his penis was completely amputated.

An Alabama resident is suing a local urology center and two surgeons there, accusing them of amputating his penis during a circumcision procedure, reports AL.com.

In June, the man went to Urology Centers of Alabama for a circumcision operation under general anesthesia, the statement said. When the plaintiff woke up after the procedure, it turned out that his penis was completely amputated. “The plaintiff did not consent to the complete or partial amputation of the penis,” the statement said. "In addition, no one warned him that the result of the circumcision procedure could be the amputation of the penis, and did not explain the medical need for such a development of events."

The statement also indicates that due to the amputation of the penis, the plaintiff had to spend additional time in the hospital, spend additional funds and endure a lot of physical and mental suffering. The plaintiff's wife joined the lawsuit, claiming the loss of marriage as a result of the unexpected consequences of circumcision.

In turn, a representative of the medical center declined to comment on the identity of the plaintiff and the charges brought against him.
