An injury from a motorcycle accident caused the Italian's heart to shift to the right side of his chest. Thanks to the therapy, a day later, the man's heart returned to its original place. A motorcycle accident caused the 48-year-old Italian's heart to shift to the right side of his chest. Thanks to the therapy, a day later, the man's heart returned to its original place. All this time the patient remained conscious and soon recovered completely. This unique clinical case was reported by the surgeons at the University of Padua Hospital in the New England Journal of Medicine.

A man was admitted to the emergency room after falling from a motorcycle with severe chest injury. Routine examinations have led doctors to assume that the patient's heart is out of place. X-ray examination and computed tomography, in addition to numerous traumatic injuries, showed that the man's heart, together with the pulmonary artery, aorta, both atria and ventricles, turned 90 degrees to the right.

Doctors suggested that the cause of this displacement was tense premothorax (accumulation of air in the pleural cavity). The placed pleural drainage allowed the heart to return to its usual place, to the left side of the chest - within a day, the patient experienced complete anatomical and physiological recovery of the entire cardiovascular complex. Subsequent studies did not reveal any negative effects of bias.
