A girl who was born on the island of Shikotan several days ago was delivered to the Sakhalin Regional Children's Hospital. The baby appeared prematurely, weighing 1.3 kg and is now in a consistently serious condition. According to the chief physician of the medical institution, Larisa Fateeva, the girl will have to remain under the supervision of doctors for a long time, ITAR-TASS reports.

A girl was delivered to the Sakhalin Regional Children's Hospital, who was born on the island of Shikotan a few days ago. The baby appeared prematurely, weighing 1.3 kg and is now in a consistently serious condition. According to the chief physician of the medical institution, Larisa Fateeva, the girl will have to remain under the supervision of doctors for a long time, ITAR-TASS reports.
The girl was born on December 8 in the village of Malokurilskoye at 31-32 weeks of gestation with extreme body weight, and doctors immediately decided to transport her to Sakhalin, RIA Novosti reports.
First, the child was transported by helicopter to the regional hospital in Kunashir, and then an air ambulance plane arrived there with the resuscitation doctors of the regional children's hospital on board, which transported the baby from Yuzhno-Kurilsk to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.
Thus, both the military, who promptly provided a helicopter, and a team of resuscitators that arrived from Sakhalin took part in saving the child. The child's mother is in a hospital in Shikotan.
"Now the baby is not in danger, her condition does not cause serious concern, however, the girl will have to stay in our hospital until she gains at least 2.5 kilograms of body weight, and also until she reaches normal indicators for her age," - says the head physician of the regional hospital.
