Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin, in his speech to the Federal Assembly, stated the need for a real transition to the insurance principle in Russian health care, RIA Novosti reports.

Veronika Skvortsova said that the health insurance system will be improved in the next two years. “We plan to work with insurance companies and provide them with significantly more powers,” said Skvortsova.

“I think that in the next two years we will debug this system,” added the head of the ministry.

Let us remind you that today, speaking before the Federal Assembly, the President of the Russian Federation noted the importance of the transition to the health insurance system.

“The basic question is a real transition to the insurance principle in healthcare. Today, the function of compulsory medical insurance, in fact, is reduced to "pumping money" to the recipient, but not through the budget, but through an off-budget fund. The task is completely different,”the head of government said.

“The task is to make the insurance principle work, so that a person's responsibility for their health increases, financial incentives for a healthy lifestyle appear, and insurance companies are interested in medical institutions providing quality services, monitoring this and giving a financial assessment their work, so that the patient finally has the opportunity to choose the medical institution that, in his opinion, works best,”the president explained.
