In the Moscow region, dogs will be used for the rehabilitation of children with disabilities. Golden retrievers, which are distinguished by their friendliness and emotionality, will be purchased for the institutions of the Ministry of Social Protection of the Moscow Region. The first retriever should appear in a rehabilitation center for minors in Korolev by March next year, RIA Novosti reports, citing the press service of the Moscow Region Ministry of Social Protection.

Dogs, horses and dolphins have long been used to treat mental disorders in Europe and the United States, but in Russia such methods are still rarely used.

“Already in March, a specially trained Golden Retriever dog will appear in our juvenile rehabilitation center in Korolev. This dog breed is most suitable for the rehabilitation of children with disabilities, including children with autism - these dogs are so calm that they do not even react to a shot,”said Olga Zabralova, Minister of Social Protection of the Region.

According to her, employees of the rehabilitation center in Korolev have already begun to study methods of rehabilitation using retrievers.
