Norovirus outbreaks have been reported among passengers on cruise ships Ruby Princess, Crown Princess and Voyager of the Seas. These ships are among the largest in the world - each of them is capable of accommodating more than four thousand passengers and crew.

According to the standards, an outbreak of intestinal infection on board ship is reported by the American Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) under a number of conditions. In particular, the duration of the cruise should be from three days to three weeks, the number of passengers on the vessel should exceed a hundred people. At the same time, the symptoms of infection should be recorded by ship doctors in three or more percent of people on board.

The Ruby Princess was disinfected at the Port of Everglades on Sunday, February 5, after which the liner went to sea. Earlier, the Crown Princess was sanitized at the same port. Voyager of the Seas set sail after sanitizing the port of New Orleans. Passengers were informed about the disinfection and awaited completion of works ashore.
